ESOS Meals is run by Ecommerce Signal (David Limon), San Antonio, Texas. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email davidl.satx@gmail.com.
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to plan your family's meals, and nothing more on purpose.
- We don't sell your data, and there are no ads.
- Cookies are used only to keep you signed in and to protect your account.
What we collect
- Account: your first name, email address, and password. Your password is stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text.
- Household: your household's name, the names of the people you add, and whether a profile is a child's.
- Food preferences: foods each person dislikes and any allergies you enter.
- What you do in the app: ratings, thumbs up or down, feedback, food you mark as tossed, your pantry, meal plans, and shopping lists.
- What you add: recipes, uploaded photos, reviews, and tips.
- Basic technical data: IP address, browser details, and simple logs of requests and sign-in attempts, used to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
- To run ESOS Meals: sign you in, share plans and lists within your household, and show recipes.
- To personalize the planner, so suggestions fit what your family likes and avoid dislikes and allergies.
- To keep things safe: stop break-in attempts and abuse, and handle reports about reviews.
- To fix problems and make the app better.
- To contact you about your account or important changes.
Who can see your information
- Your household: people in your household can see its plans, lists, pantry, and member profiles.
- Other people on ESOS Meals: only what you choose to share, such as recipes set to "Everyone on ESOS Meals," and reviews and tips you post, shown with your first name.
- Service providers that help us run the app (below), only to do that work for us.
- The law: if required by law, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
- If ESOS Meals or Ecommerce Signal is ever sold or merged, your information may move to the new owner under this policy.
Service providers we use
- Interserver hosts our server (a VPS) and stores the app's data.
- Stripe would handle payments if paid billing is turned on later. Billing is off today. Stripe would receive payment details directly; we wouldn't store full card numbers.
- TheMealDB and TheCocktailDB provide recipe data and images. Recipe images may load from their servers, which then see your IP address and browser details like any website would.
- Walmart: if you send a list to Walmart.com, you go to Walmart's site, and Walmart's own privacy policy applies there.
Cookies
We use one sign-in cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms from forgery. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't use third-party analytics.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account information while your account is open.
- Security logs and sign-in attempt records are kept only for a short time.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to keep something for legal or security reasons. Backup copies are cleared over time.
Your choices
- You can view and change your household, family members, food preferences, and recipes in the app.
- To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account, email davidl.satx@gmail.com from the email on your account. Self-serve account deletion isn't available yet.
Children
ESOS Meals is for adults to create accounts. Children under 13 can't have their own account. A parent or guardian can add a child's profile (such as a first name, dislikes, and allergies) to their household, and that parent manages it and can change or delete it at any time. If you think a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, protection against forged forms, and limits on repeated sign-in attempts. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date above, and for important changes we'll give notice in the app or by email.
